March 8 was International Women’s Day!   

To mark the occasion, PBS programmed a full 24 hours of radio celebrating the incredible women and gender diverse musicians and DJs in our community.

After close to three decades on air at PBS, Peter Merrett (Mr Doo Wop) has announced that Malt Shop Hop is coming to an end on Wednesday March 5. Peter joined the station sometime around 1994 after launching Malt Shop Hop at Plenty Valley FM. He filled in a mix of shows at PBS, also presenting the weekly special at Fitzroy Street. Malt Shop Hop first appeared on the PBS program grid in 1999.

Congratulations to Ian Stanistreet OAM, former PBS station manager (1982-1988) and CEO of the Community Broadcasting Foundation, who was awarded the Medal of Order of Australia (OAM) for his services to broadcast media on January 26, 2025.  The Order of Australia recognises Australians who have demonstrated outstanding service and exceptional achievement.

Dandelion Wine are an ethereal electro-folk band from Naarm/Melbourne, who combine medieval and folk instruments with electronic beats and waves of textured guitars, mixed with celestial vocals. Equally at home lulling audiences in a theatre or making them dance at outdoor festivals, the band have also travelled extensilvelly across Australia, Europe, UK, Japan, and more.
