Zretro is a Naarm-based duo featuring vocalist Zima and producer 2nd Thought. Their self-titled debut LP blends 90s R&B vocals with golden era hip hop production, alongside elements of Kwaito and Afrobeat, and features bass from Horatio Luna.

Zima and Willy met on a construction site and then put their heads together in the studio with immediate results. Unsurprisingly, given 'retro' is right there in the name, there’s a huge 1990s influence throughout Zretro’s music. There’s slick RnB and West Coast flavour in the vocal delivery, but also a decidedly grimy East Coast boom bap tinge to the boxy beats.

Tune in to PBS all this week to hear tracks from Zretro, and PBS Members have the chance to win a copy of the album on vinyl via this Tuesday's e-newsletter so make sure you check your inbox! Please note that winners will need to be able to pick up their LP from our Collingwood studios.
