This week's PBS Feature Album is Coalesce, from Naarm-based artist Now Always Fades. The musical project of Xavier Bacash, Coalesce sees Now Always Fades (NAF) evolving his modernised approach to downtempo and trip-hop genres. NAF's musical and thematic universe expands with the addition of new vocal collaborators, which speaks to the versatility of a voice as a contextual instrument. In doing so, throughout Coalesce he continues to develop a kind of sonic consistency that focuses on shared emotion above all else.
Collaborating with vocalists such as Alia Seror-O'Neill, Lili Hall and Olive Kimoto, each singer has a place on tracks entirely made for them. In doing so, the NAF project provides everyone involved - and the listener - with something sonically new but emotionally familiar at every turn.
Tune in all this week to hear tracks from Coalesce. PBS Members have the chance to win a copy of the album - simply email your name and membership number to before midnight Sunday September 20.
