This week's feature album First Time Really Feeling comes from one of Australia's longest serving musicians Liz Stringer.

First Time Really Feeling marks Stringer's sixth studio album. She released her first record 24 years ago: a demo that was recorded on cassette tape when Stringer was just 16-years-old and living in Germany. Since then, Stringer has built a stellar reputation, regularly referred to as a "songwriter's songwriter" and a "musician's musician". In 2019 she was honoured at Woodford Folk Festival as an 'emerging legend of Australian song'.

Having carved out fanbases across the world, including Australia, Canada and parts of Europe, it is no doubt that First Time Really Feeling will see Stringer widen her recognition and commercial success, both of which she so deeply deserves.

The ten-track album shows Stringer flexing her 80s rock muscles with hair-metal guitar solos that are reminiscent of early Tom Petty or the Divinyls. On the title track, you can hear the layered instrumentation, driving drums and ringing choruses that hook you in and shake free a feeling of long lost recognition.
