This week's feature marks the return of Emma Donovan to Melbourne and coming back together with The Putbacks to write, record and release this highly compelling and essential new album.

Under These Streets which hit record racks last week, showcases The Putbacks deep rich funk and Emma’s soulful style.

Following on from their success with the award-winning album Crossover (AIR Awards Soul/RnB album of the year) acclaimed Indigenous vocalist Emma Donovan returned to Melbourne with her two daughters to be closer to the dynamic rhythm combo, The Putbacks.

Into the studio they leapt, recording eight fresh tracks drawn from the mighty music vault of The Putbacks. 'Out The Door' was the first single released from these new recordings, with the lyrics born from the band’s desire to create and make music together in the shadow of the global pandemic. The mesmerising ballad 'Love Without Limit' quickly followed, highlighting a new sound and format for the band, setting the scene for Under These Streets

As Emma Donovan highlights: Under These Streets reflects our return to the studio and realigning as a band coming out of some very dark and tormenting times. We literally ran out the door from lockdown and jumped deep into the studio. When The Putbacks and I are in the studio, we jam, we write and there’s a lot of trust for me to play with lyrics and melody. This album shows our strength as a musical unit, our relationship and trust with one another, and marks my return to the Melbourne community'.

Under These Streets is out through Heavy Machinery Records / Cooking Vinyl Australia.

Tune into PBS all week for your chance to win a vinyl copy of the album. Not a PBS member? Sign up now for your chance to win.
