This week’s PBS Feature Album is Songs In The Key Of Wrestling, the debut album from BIG NOTER, fronted by proud Yorta Yorta man Briggs. The musical approach to Songs In The Key Of Wrestling was informed by the artists Briggs was raised on while growing up in Shepparton such as Sepultura and Rage Against The Machine. BIG NOTER melds the aggression and musical fury of these acts with Briggs' great love of hip-hop.
Teaming up with producer Nick DiDia, who himself has produced records for Rage Against The Machine, Briggs and BIG NOTER have delivered a colossal debut album packed full of swagger and titanic riffs which lie underneath lyrics concerning mental health, First Nations identity, racism and the systems that contribute to the disproportionate incarceration of First Nations people.
