This week's feature album is the latest release from Melbourne soul and funk outfit The Bamboos. Hard Up marks the band's tenth studio album which was recorded over a week just prior to the pandemic.
Founded and lead by guitarist, producer and songwriter Lance Ferguson, The Bamboos have been playing together for over 20 years. Over this time, the band have refined their craft to a fine point and this is reflected in the incredible musicality found on Hard Up.
The title track is a stripped down, serious piece of funk that taps into the widespread sense of unease of the times. “They keep adding zeroes / Me, I only got one single nought” sings Kylie Auldist in her easily recognisable and phenomenal vocals.

Pulling fewer punches is the second track off the album 'Power Without Greed' which rails against those "drunk on power", compelling that same power to be shared more fairly.
The album welcomes guest vocalists Joey Dosik (American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist) and Louisiana-born Durand Jones (of Durand Jones & The Indications).
