Mon 28 Mar 2011 to Mon 30 May 2011

General entries open on 26 February for artists to submit work to be part of the 2011 Gertrude Street Projection Festival.

Entries close on 30 May 2011.

In its fourth year, the Festival is a unique celebration of projected art, transforming Gertrude St, Fitzroy, Melbourne into an illuminated outdoor gallery of projected media for people to walk, ride, drive, or tram through.

This year 3 sites will be available for general entry submissions. Two of the general entry sites will be projections onto the pavement; the third will be a rear projection from inside a shop onto a window.

“All-up, we’ll have 20 projection sites along the 1 km length of Gertrude Street says Kym Ortenburg the 2011 producer.

The 2011 theme Hidden: Places and Spaces is particularly suited to one of Melbourne’s most creative streets.
“The theme can have literal, as well as abstract meanings” says Ortenburg. “Artists can explore the emotional or psychological revelations of hidden personal places and spaces. They can turn to the hidden spaces within themselves. Or they can respond to the architecture, shape or the history of special places“.
We encourage anyone who has the “hidden artist” within to enter.
