Applications Open for 2025 West Space Commission

Applications are now open for the 2027 West Space Commission. The West Space Commission program is an opportunity for artists or collectives to present a new body of work in the West Space Gallery.

West Space Commission offers:

- A commission fee of $5000 plus superannuation

- Assistance in seeking additional funding to support the production and presentation of the work.

- 12-18 months for the development of your project through access to West Space staff and our networks, culminating in an eight-week presentation.

After more than a decade of focusing on large-scale public murals, Damien Mitchell - a celebrated artist known for his hyper-realistic style - will unveil his first solo exhibition in over ten years, featuring an entirely newcollection of paintings on canvas, created using spray paint.

The exhibition opens on April 2, 2025, with an exclusive opening night from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. , concluding on April 16, 2025, at SOL Gallery, 420 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy.
