PBS 106.7FM and Ports of Paradise are proud to present the only Australian screening of Korla: The Movie, taking place at The LuWOW on Friday 1st July.

Korla is a feature documentary about the secret life of Korla Pandit; spiritual seeker, television icon of the 1940s and 50s and the godfather of exotica music. Known for his hypnotic gaze, Korla was a pioneer of the Hammond organ and a cult figure with tiki/ lounge music aficionados. Directed by John Turner and Eric Christensen, the film follows Korla’s journey from New Delhi to Los Angeles and reveals some of the deep mysteries of his life.

To mark this special, one-off screening of the film, Ports of Paradise’s Paddy Harrisson has put together a celebratory night of exotica with special guests, video projections and DJ sets from Palm Tree Paddy and Jungle Fever’s Matt McFetridge. The feature documentary will be preceded by a short introduction to Korla by Paddy Harrisson and celebrated lounge singer Joe Sehee, plus a bonus screening of the short film Don’t Blast Off with animation by Lluis Fuzzhound and a soundtrack by Korla.

Join us for a night of mystical and enchanting entertainment from 7pm at the LuWOW!
