Around this time three years ago, Sleep D and Albrecht La’Brooy, two of Melbourne’s premier electronic acts, came into PBS to perform a riveting live set in Studio 5. The musicians played around with acid bass tones, cascading synth leads, heavy kicks drums and warm melodies, giving the listener but a snippet of the quintessentially Melbourne electronic sound that these two acts have fine-tuned over the years.

A lot has happened since then. One month after that live set at PBS, Sleep D’s label Butter Sessions was voted label of the month on Resident Advisor. Exactly two years later, Albrecht La’Brooy’s label Analogue Attic received the same title. This international recognition is well deserved and reflects the importance of these musicians in the local music scene.

Both Sleep D and Albrecht La’Brooy, as well as their respective labels, have been pioneers in fashioning an excitingly inclusive, diverse and rich local music environment that is empowering, inspiring, playful and critical. Their commitment to hard work and new ideas shows in the exhilarating events that they curate, the compelling releases they put out, and the original music that they produce.

Tune in to Tomorrowland on Friday October 16 to revisit that classic live set from Sleep D and Albrecht La’Brooy. Studio 5 Rewind is proudly brought to you by Mountain Goat.
