Naarm/Melbourne-based, seven-piece soul-funk outfit Steppers are proud to present a work truly representative of their unspoken dialect; a sonic language communicated in groove, translated through dance. Unhindered by any one mode or method of creation, Steppers release their 6-track self-titled album on Saturday April 18 (Record Store Day), with the full weight of their combined experience and musicality.
Launch celebrations begin on Saturday April 18 from 3pm, with an in-store performance at Northside Records, followed by an album launch, on Sunday April 26 from 2pm at The Tote, capping off release season with a 16-show tour in all east-coast states, from Hobart to Brisbane.
Led by the beats and vocals of the esteemed Reginald AK, Steppers boldly anchors their ties to the Australian music scene (The Bamboos, Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Ausecuma Beats, Bumpy, Kylie Auldist) using Rhodes, Telecaster and a unique strand of bass-driven & horn-laden cadence to solidify their distinctive take on soul, funk & RnB. Truly the product of their Fitzroyal upbringing, Steppers speak their own language, creating an experience greater than the sum of its parts.
Don't miss a special Studio 5 Live session with Steppers performing live on The Afterglow on Wednesday April 15. Tune in from 5pm to hear this intimate set and interview with host Lyndelle Wilkinson.
Studio 5 Live is made possible by Carlton Audio Visual and is supported by the Australian Government through Music Australia and Creative Australia, its arts funding and advisory body.
