Astral People announce Move My Way, a brand-new community-focused festival landing in Naarm/Melbourne on Sunday October 4.
Taking over PICA, Move My Way is grounded in connection, comfort and world-class curation, bringing together local scenes and global influences connected by a shared musical language spanning hip hop, jazz, R&B, soul and club culture.
Leading the inaugural lineup are Mercury Prize-winning UK jazz trailblazers Ezra Collective, Grammy-nominated rap heavyweight Freddie Gibbs, London’s acclaimed Afro-jazz collective Kokoroko, and globally celebrated Zambian-born artist Sampa the Great.
They’re joined by an expansive lineup of boundary-pushing international and local talent including renowned selector Coco María, genre-defying duo GENA (Liv.e & Karriem Riggins), tastemaker Jamz Supernova, Manchester underground icon Luke Una, Tokyo-born multi-instrumentalist Takuya Nakamura, and rising artists Miles Nautu, Qendresa, Tash LC, RAH and xmunashe.
Adding to the local spirit, Melbourne institution Northside Records will curate a dedicated soul and funk takeover featuring Chris Gill, El Fuentes, Emelyne (PBS- The Blend), Lori, Mike Gurrieri (PBS – Mystic Brew), Mothafunk and Stuckey.
With openness and movement at its core, Move My Way is a celebration of the communities carrying contemporary culture forward — a space where exchange is constant, strangers feel familiar, and music always finds a way to move us.
