Ms. Lisa Fischer & Grand Baton (USA)
Support: Audrey Powne
Wednesday 5 June, 7:30pm
Melbourne Recital Centre

The unexpected breakout star of the Oscar Winning documentary Twenty Feet from Stardom (2013), Fischer’s original break came working with R&B legend Luther Vandross. After four decades as one of the world’s most in demand backup singers, bringing raw soul to the likes of The Rolling Stones, Nine Inch Nails, Tina Turner and Beyoncé, Fischer has made centre stage undeniably and rightfully her own. For the MIJF show, Fischer joins forces with Caribbean jazz rock fusion band Grand Baton to transform soulful originals, recast rock anthems from her tours with the Stones and Turner, and put her stamp on the likes of Led Zeppelin and Little Willie John.
