Sat 13 Nov 2010

PBS 106.7FM’s Fiesta Jazz program, presented by Saúl Zavarce, is set to commemorate a decade on air with a celebration gig at The Johnston, Saturday 13th November featuring La Orquesta Del Barrio, DJ Mick Williams, DJ Emma Peel and DJ Saúl himself.

Since November 2000 Fiesta Jazz has been bringing the joy and flavour of Latin music to the airwaves every week on Saturdays at 11am on PBS, presenting a broad spectrum of Latin Jazz, including traditional, instrumental and vocal Afro-Caribbean, Spanish and Brazilian Jazz, and Latin-influenced fusion played by non-Latin musicians.

Over the years the program has profiled interviews with artists such as Chucho Valdes, Eddie Palmieri, Oscar D' Leon, Paquito D' Rivera, Michel Camilo, Steve Khan, Dave Samuels, Karl Perazzo (Santana), Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez, Arturo Sandoval, Otmaro Ruiz, Marlon Simon and Julio Fernandez (Spyro Gyra), to name a few!

In 1492 the fusion of three cultures gave birth to the hottest music in the world, and for the last 10 years Fiesta Jazz has presented the best of Latin Jazz and fusion! Get down to the Fiesta Jazz 10th Birthday and celebrate Latin American style... dancing shoes compulsory....
