Wuigada is a dedicated space where First Nations musicians can share and celebrate music made by other First Nations musicians with PBS audiences.

Wuigada was named and developed by the highly acclaimed indigenous singer songwriter, Kutcha Edwards. Wuigada in Mutti Mutti means 'to sing'.

In this edition of Wuigada we hear from Naarm-based Wergaia and Wemba Wemba songwriter and artist, Alice Skye. Moving from Horsham to Naarm (Melbourne) to pursue a career in music, Alice has surely taken the music community by storm. A regular on the PBS airwaves and scheduled to perform at PBS' Rock A Bye Baby event in 2020, Alice is well known across the station.

Alice translates raw, familiar introspection into a cohesive collection of dreamy indie cuts, rock ballads and softer moments. The emotional transparency of her lyrical content reveals the balance we all have with the relationships we keep with both ourselves and others, instilling a healing ode to life and getting by.

It is with great pleasure we share our recent chat with Alice as she shares what she's been up to and the music that has inspired her.

'Recently I released my second album, I Feel Better but I Don’t Feel Good, and we are hoping to tour in Sept/Oct alongside Elizabeth. Starting in Melbourne on September 1st.'

I Feel Better But I Don’t Feel Good

With lyrics playing a major part in Alice Skye’s song writing it’s not surprising that Alice nominated 'Homecoming Queen' by Thelma Plum as a song she feels a strong connection to. 'Everytime I hear “in 1967 I wasn’t human, and in 1994 I was born. I am still here - we are still here” I feel so emotional. The whole song is amazing. Like pivotal, lightbulb moment amazing.'
