Lamine Sonko and The African Intelligence and iconic singer Ajak Kwai are stopping by the PBS studios for a Studio 5 Live while touring their co-headline tour, Afro Frequency.

Lamine Sonko and The African Intelligence burst onto the Australian music scene back in 2014 delivering a crowd-stopping performance to over 50,000 at Federation Square. A big band sound of African roots music, jazz and reggae, the 10 piece ensemble capture ancient pulsing rhythms accented by talking drum and virtuosic electric guitar.

Ajak Kwai is iconic to Melbourne and a pioneer in the Australian world music scene. Her career as a music composer, singer soloist and percussionist spans more than 20 years performing nationally and internationally. Ajak's songs are soulful stories of inspiration infused with funky afro-beats that reflect the depth and richness of her South Sudanese roots.

Together, audiences can expect the raw sounds of sandy Saharan empires to the explosive rhythms of afro-beat, jazz and funk, paired with a fiery mix of uplifting and soulful sounds delivered with sweet harmonies, vibrant melodies, with a few twists along the way.
