The Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA) is organising a Rally for the Arts. You're invited to join them on the steps of the State Library of Victoria to have your voice heard: 4.30pm on Monday 9 November, 2026.
The Victorian arts industry and community is in crisis. In the run-up to the state election, artists and cultural workers from across Victoria are calling on all political parties to restore arts funding and to reinvest in support of Victorian arts and music, from the smallest local venues to the biggest stages.
If you’ve ever checked out a local band, musician or DJ, visited a local gallery, seen a theatre, opera, dance, circus or ballet performance, read a book by a local author—consumed the arts in any way—now is the time to show your support for the local art scene.
The Rally for the Arts is a chance for the broader community to take a stand for the arts in this state in the lead up to the state election, and to tell Victoria’s political candidates loud and clear: DON’T BREAK OUR ARTS.
Rally for the Arts is a non-partisan event convened by Don't Break Our Arts and Save Live Performance, with MEAA. For more information, visit dontbreakourarts.org.
