Imagine a powerful voice that nails classic R'n'B and rock and roll combined with the killer rockabilly instrumentation of slapping upright bass, swinging drums and virtuoso guitar and you’ve got Tammi Savoy & The Chris Casello Combo.

One of the late David Heard’s greatest qualities was his interest in exploring sounds that go beyond the confines of country music, roots rock and Americana for which his show Acid Country was known. Every now and then David would dabble in a bit of rock n roll, rockabilly and R'n'B, so it made sense that when Tammi Savoy & The Chris Casello Combo toured Australia in 2019 they would come in to PBS to perform a live set in Studio 5 on Acid Country

From Chicago, Tammi Savoy was 2019’s Ameripolitan Award recipient for Female Rockabilly Artist of the Year. And on guitar, Chris Casello is a veteran of Detroit, Nashville and Chicago music scenes.

Tammi and Chris met in 2017, became fast friends and started jamming and recording songs culminating in a six song EP and a 7” which in 2019 were combined with additional tracks for their Australian debut album Rhythm & Roll

Tune in to Roots of Rhythm on November 3 as Helen Jennings pays tribute to David Heard with this energetic set of very fun rockabilly songs from Tammi Savoy & The Chris Casello Combo

Studio 5 Rewind is brought to you by our mates at Mountain Goat.
