New Farmers Market at the Substation in Newport

The Substation in Newport is excited to announce the launch of their very first farmers market on Sunday 1st December 2013.
The opening will feature music and entertainment to celebrate a great local community enterprise. It’s also the same day as the regular monthly Substation Artists’ Market and kicks off the beginning of summer with a bang!
The Substation Farmers Market will be a collaboration with the not-for-profit Melbourne Farmers Markets group who have established six of Melbourne’s best loved farmers markets to fruition so, with that pedigree, it’s bound to be a tremendous asset for Newport.
Following the opening event, the Substation Farmers Market will take place on the first and third Sunday of every month running from 9am to 2pm.
There will be a great range of produce and handmade local foods on offer at every market and stallholders will include growers of seasonal fruit and vegetables including organics and heirloom varieties. Specialties in the first summer market will include; strawberries, blueberries, nectarines and peaches. Then there’s a terrific range of delicious free-range meats, milk and cheeses, baked goods, olive oil, preserves, honey, wine and flowers.
Housed in a historic industrial building, The Substation is a non-for-profit organisation and presents the very best in contemporary arts.
