Tue 26 Oct 2021

Join PBS announcer Jan Dale from 1pm on Tuesday October 26 as she celebrates 20 years of Southern Style on the PBS airwaves. As a special celebratory nod, Jan will be reliving her first program by replicating the playlist from October 30, 2001.

As one of so few Southern music-focused radio shows outside of the USA, Southern Style has become renowned in its niche. In 2019 Jan was one of five people nominated for the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Broadcaster of the Year award, becoming the first ever non-US based nominee. This follows her selection for the 2018 Mick Geyer Award, celebrating her longstanding contribution to PBS, community radio and the music community in Australia.

"I feel very fortunate being at PBS over the last twenty years. It’s such a respected and well organised radio station. The staff are great and our listeners are incredibly supportive and generous. Although I've missed being able to have musicians in the studio with me, broadcasting all the way through lockdown has been the highlight of my week. Southern Style was the very last show broadcast from our St. Kilda studios and now, 20 years later, I’m looking forward to our move to Collingwood Yards.” - Jan Dale
