Soul-A-Go-Go is back to warm up your winter at the Night Cat on Saturday 7th of July.
Featuring an all-star line-up of PBS DJs, Emma Peel (Switched On), Miss Goldie (Boss Action), Vince Peach (Soul Time), Shio (Eternal Rhythm) and Richie 1250 (Stone Love). Plus Melbourne’s favourite Rock 'n' Soul band, The Sugarcanes.
The Sugarcanes bring more than just their instruments to a gig – they bring their love and heartbreak, their energy and aching loneliness. Formed in 2014, they’ve been pouring their emotions into their music ever since and capturing audiences’ hearts along the way, from the East Coast of Australia all the way to Paris, the City of Love.
Led by the talented Wilson siblings, Jack and Lucy, the Sugarcanes were started with the intent to encapsulate the best of the music they love. The band’s soon to be released second album, Songs for Modern Lovers, draws on influences from such 70s classics as the Rolling Stones’ “Exile on Main St” and Bob Dylan’s “Highway 61 Revisited”, and invokes contemporaries such as the Alabama Shakes and Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats. In Songs for Modern Lovers the band has managed to pull together sounds from the past and present into something exhilaratingly unique.
Now is the time to get out and see the Sugarcanes as they ramp up for the release of their second album. So strap on your dancing shoes prepare to fall in love.
It’s $10 for members and $15 for future members.
