Blending searing, emotive vocals with a washed-out, psychedelia-steeped sonic palette, Ruby Jones crafts a tempestuous and hauntingly beautiful sound that is uniquely her own. Jones cut her teeth on the local scene before rising to international prominence as a core member of Clairy Browne & The Bangin’ Rackettes. Their debut album Baby Caught the Bus led to a worldwide publishing and recording deal, extensive U.S. touring, and the placement of their music in globally recognised TV shows, films and advertising campaigns.
It was during this time that Jones met her long-time collaborator and lead guitarist Jules Pascoe (Husky, Jazz Party, Jaala). Following the band’s dissolution in 2015, Jones and Pascoe immersed themselves in songwriting, later joined by bassist Joel Loukes (Riley Catherall, Grace Cummings) and drummer Selwyn Cozens to create new work charged with themes of heartbreak, loss, and redemption.
Ruby Jones was awarded one of the Upstart Music Awards and shortlisted for the International Songwriting Competition (2025), affirming her status as a songwriter of rare depth and vision.
Now, with her sophomore album Souvenir slated for release in 2026, Jones turns her gaze outward. The record wrestles with themes of existential climate threats, intergenerational trauma, guilt, loss and ultimately rebirth, delivering a body of work as urgent as it is timeless.
Today, Ruby Jones stands as an acclaimed vocalist and songwriter whose music sits at the intersection of alt-folk, rock ’n’ roll, and poetic storytelling. With a voice often likened to Joni Mitchell and Stevie Nicks, her sound is deeply emotive, haunting, and unafraid to wander through the terrain of the spirit and the human experience.
Don't miss when Ruby Jones stops by PBS for a special Studio 5 Live performance on Stone Love. Tune in on Friday May 15 from 5pm for this exclusive set and interview with host Richie 1250.
