Yarra Council presents the fourth instalment of Yarra Park Life: a low key, family friendly suite of activities on the afternoon of New Year’s Eve, Tuesday 31 December at Edinburgh Gardens.
The much loved annual Yarra Park Life Dog Show, hosted by the Conor Gallagher and Puppy Tales Rescue, between 2pm-4pm at the Alfred Crescent Oval. Come down and register your beloved doggo from 1pm in one of the 7 categories:
- Inner City Hipster
- Best Older Doggo
- Best Trickster
- Revered Rescue Dog
- Cutest Puppy
- Quiet Achiever
- Best Handsome Ugly Doggo
There’ll be medals for your mantle and prizes galore from our friends at Pet Stock, Clifton Hill.
Wally’s Dog Café will be serving up human friendly latte’s as well as pupuccinos and dog snacks between 12pm and 9.00pm alongside the delectable Mexican street food of mobile cantina Dos Diablos.
And at sundown, locals are covered for a late afternoon/early evening free program.
This year the gardens cinema will host a number of free films including Coco for the kids at 7.25pm and A Star is Born for the adults at 9.45pm, alongside popcorn and film snack vendoring run by local animal rescue groups.
Coco: Despite his family's generations-old ban on music, young Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead. Plus, you’ll be able to view the city fireworks (before and after the films) at 9.30pm (for the kids) and midnight (for adults) from your picnic blanket in Yarra’s finest park.
The Edinburgh gardens pathways have additional ambient lighting and toilet provisions around the Alfred Crescent Pavilion to help create a safe, easy and family-friendly atmosphere.
While New Year’s Eve celebrations are welcome in all of Yarra’s parks and gardens, there will be zero tolerance for anti-social behaviour. Please note all parks are alcohol free on New Year’s Eve.
