Two distinct voices in Australian music unite in this striking cross-generational partnership between winner of the 2014 Don Banks Music Award and Bell Awards Hall-of-Famer, Mike Nock, and formidable drummer, former student and kindred spirit Laurence Pike.

A venerable elder of the Australian scene, Nock’s vital and inventive piano playing is delicately underpinned by Pike’s singular approach to the drum kit, their shared ingenuity producing music that is by turns ethereal, inventive, humorous and atmospheric.

An all-star quartet in the classic mould, the Julien Wilson Quartet sees the much-anticipated reunion of New York-based pianist Barney McAll with Sydney bassist Jonathan Zwartz and Melbourne drummer Allan Browne, lead by one of the leading saxophonists in Australian jazz.

Together they delve deep into jazz history to create a new, quintessentially Australian sound they describe as “deep yet light, Old School and hip, informed yet inspired”.
