This week on State of the Art, Roger discussed Lewis Miller at Australian Galleries. Lewis was a judge for this year's Moran Portrait Prize (Australia's richest portrait prize) Lewis has a number of very small self-portraits in the exhibition. Miller has been a finalist in the Archibald Prize 16 times, winning the prize in 1998 with a portrait of fellow painter Allan Mitelman. In 2003 he was appointed Official Australian Artist to the conflict in Iraq by the Australian War Memorial.

Roger covered the McClelland Sculpture Award ($100,000) won by Matthew Harding.
The McClelland Award offers artists the chance to exhibit in 16ha of bush and purpose-built sculpture garden. This year’s award went to Matthew Harding at the McClelland Sculpture Park and Gallery in Langwarrin near Melbourne.
