Direct from Melbourne’s inner northern suburb of Preston hails one of Australia’s most promising MC’s. If you haven’t heard of 26 year old knockabout, Maundz yet, it’s time you popped a no doz or two.

Flying the flag high for the country’s most talked about up and coming hip hop label, Crate Cartel, Maundz has been living up to the hype that he has received over recent years, earning himself respect from hip hop heads from all over the map, to the biggest names in the Australian Hip Hop scene.
Having sold out his first two 7” records within weeks of releases in 2005 (via Mass MC’s Doublebeef records), this was a taste of things to come in the near future.

2010 saw the release of Maundz’s first nationally distributed and highly successful album titled ‘Mr Nobody’, garnering a mass of love from across the board and earning ozhiphop.com’s 2010 ‘best album’, ‘best solo album’ and ‘best male MC’ awards.

With a knack for penning slick vernacular and a humorous yet unique approach to writing, Maundz spits with an effortless conviction that is fast sending others back to the drawing board.

Since the release of ‘Mr Nobody’ and in the wake of touring the album nationwide, Maundz has jumped back in the lab, this time teaming up with fellow Cartel member WIK. Together the two have joined forces to create one of the most anticipated local hip hop releases to date.

The new album titled ‘Zero’ will be available nationwide and on iTunes via Obese Distribution on May 25th, featuring the biggest and most exciting names to come out of the hip hop scene on the local front, all the way to the worldwide stage.

Be on the lookout, Maundz and WIK are about to Zero in.

Listen back to Hippopotamus Rex with Ronan, 8-10pm for a live set from Maundz.
