Celebrating independent contemporary artists on the theme of Asia. Thirteen venues across the City of Melbourne including Federation Square, State Library of Victoria and the Immigration Museum will host exhibitions, theatre, music, dance, multi-media, workshops and live art interactions for this Festival. Through international artistic networks, MAV has engaged over 100 artists from across Australia, China, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, India, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, East Timor, Singapore, Philippines and Vietnam for this extraordinary four day showcase.

Join MAV for a special preview into the Festival in this night of surprises as they launch this year’s program and celebrate the opening of SHOUT! 2015. The evening will include performance, live art interactions, music and dance featuring artists Erika Ernawan, Nakarin Jaikla, The Barberettes, My Le Thi, Minh Phan, Khue Nguyen, Mindy Meng Wang and Ma Haiping.

Mark the end of Mapping Melbourne 2015 with an epic block party on the edge of Chinatown between Melbourne’s most loved container bar, Section 8 and Belleville.
There will be plenty of creative mayhem as Australia-East Timor arts collective, Animatism unleash their eclectic samples in a live, audio visual explosion of colour and music. Other featured artists will include the “Son of Shanghai techno”, Ma Haiping; sought after Producer DJ Mangohig (Sietta and Damn Moroda); and multi-instrumentalist/electronic artist Benji Miu.

Lead singer of Bombay Royale, Parvyn Kaur Singh has joined with musical innovators Josh Bennett, Tunji Beier, and Linsey Pollak to create NOVALAYA, a quartet seamlessly blending each member’s unique cultural heritage and musical influences. Musical styles from across Asia and Europe collide for an immersive experience, taking the audience on a journey of intricate melodic and rhythmic performance.
