All-day, all-night multi-stage riff fest at The Tote featuring 20+ bands curated by PBS' Hard n Heavy announcers!

Following the roaring success of the inaugural Heavy and Hammered last year, the announcers at the helms of PBS 106.7FM’s Hard and Heavy shows have once again summoned a massive line-up for another all-day, all-night multi-stage riff-feast - Heavy and Hammered II - taking place at The Tote on Saturday, October 8.

Headlining the bill are the pub-rock legends Cosmic Psychos, who’ll be joined by dozens of other bands smashing the local hard rock, metal and DIY scene. Palace of the King will bring their bluesy swagger and riff-heavy psychedelic rock’n’roll and we’ll hear the massive hooks and jaw-breaking rhythms of Don Fernando. Lisa MacKinney of Taipan Tiger Girls will bring her solo psychedelic drone epics as Mystic Eyes, groove ridden stoner rockers Zombie Motors Wrecking Yard will smash it out, Diploid will inject a noisy hit of blackened punk and nihilistic feminism and the relentless In Malice’s Wake will deliver thrash metal as it was intended – fast, ugly and wild… And that is just to name a few!

About the bands:
Aya Aya / Sonic overtones, textures and spacey, repetitive motifs – long form composition, psychedelic, shoegaze and minimalist roots to create lucid walls of sound transcending time and space.
A Basket of Mammoths / Melbourne 3-piece coming out with the sounds of psychedelic MAMMOTH music – giant riffs and baselines moving like a freight train with some groove thrown in
Black Jesus / Summoning the wisdom from the great, glorious death metal of years gone by – Black Jesus spurn a path of Death-Metal, scrap metal ostentatiousness against the beat of a macripod and paint tin war drum.
Black Rheno / Hailing from Sydney, this is STONER - SLUDGE - GRIND - GROOVE
Cosmic Psychos / Arty kind of punk noise, with equal parts Stooges riffs, Ramones tempos, lashings of wah wah guitar, American 1980s hardcore attitude – no-frills, stripped-down punk rock
Degrees of Separation / Melbourne based rock outfit delivering a unique blend of epic stadium rock with alternative elements to achieve their signature sound.
Derailment / 90s style sludge punishment. Bewildered, smelly and wrong-headed. Dropped sticks, blown amps, broken cymbals and bad ideas.
Diploid / Blackened punk and nihilistic feminism, with bursts of swirling noise, crackling feedback and distorted screams, Diploid are one of the most promising new bands coming from the Melbourne underground.
Don Fernando / Massive riffs, massive hooks, jaw breaking rhythms and ball crunching attitude, Don Fernando have unleashed their fury on stages all over the world including Europe and South America
Grindhouse / Australian seminal garage rock and roll
In Malice’s Wake / Combining relentless speed, iconic riffs and haunting melodies with virtuosic musicianship, In Malice’s Wake deliver thrash metal as it was intended – fast, ugly and wild…
Mutton / Succulent noise rock with punk, blues and soul thrown in for good measure
Mystic Eyes / Solo project of Taipan Tiger Girls’ Lisa MacKinney – psychedelic, drone, epic
Order of the Oblique / Post-metal dripping in massive riffs, yelled vocals and a luscious atmosphere
Palace of the King / Steeped in bluesy swagger and riff-heavy psychedelia, this is rock and roll that leaves a trail of denim-clad soldiers and converted non-believers in its wake.
Peeping Tom / Hard rock, stoner rock: riffs, riffs and more riffs.
Powerline Sneakers / With their roots in Australian punk – Powerline Sneakers deliver standup rock'n'roll the way it was intended - with passion, volume, and a lust for life
Seminal Rats / A soothing blend of good-time rock'n'roll and sudden-mood swing, effusing the warmth and joy of four grizzly old comrades.
Sunslave / A band that explores dark, heavy grooves: bone crushing riffs, aggressive vocals and drums and bass oozing with a Sabbath inspired zest
TTTDC / Gizmo, Fluro and Techno: gatekeepers of the eternal riff.
Wildeornes / 100% DIY underground Australian blackened stoner metal band – combining old school heavy metal with bluesy riffs, blast beats and a healthy touch of doom.
Zombie Motors Wrecking Yard / Slow, groove ridden dirty slide stoner rock – described as ‘The missing link between Kyuss and Ministry’.
