Grace Cummings is a natural songwriter.
She trusts what she sees and hears in her head. This is what allows her to transform the rock n roll and Irish folk traditions that she grew up with into something entirely her own, a gothic Melbourne bluesy folk sound. It is with this in mind that she can consistently create - to use her own words - something “real and raw and ugly and beautiful.”
As we celebrate the way that Grace powerfully does this on her new self-produced sophomore album Storm Queen, we invite you to look back to a special moment in 2020, when Grace performed on Lyndelle Wilkinson’s The Afterglow as part of PBS Drive Live, treating a live audience with a riveting set of songs from her understated debut album Refuge Cove.
Lyndelle fondly remembers the day. “It was February 5, 2020, before all hell broke loose. Raw and captivating, this session shared only the beginning of what we have now come to know better; what we now love even more.
