Mon 9 Nov 2020 to Sun 15 Nov 2020

This week's feature album Crossover is the highly anticipated follow up from renowned indigenous soul singer Emma Donovan and critically acclaimed rhythm section The Putbacks.

Bursting on to the scene together in 2014 with the epic Dawn, Emma & The Putbacks won fans all over the world. Since then, Emma has toured and recorded with Archie Roach and Ruby Hunter, Paul Kelly and Spinifex Gum, while The Putbacks released their debut self-titled album in 2018.

Crossover is a step forward in the combo's collaboration. Emma delivers personal and honest lyrics with a nostalgic hint that delves into her childhood, family and her late mother, while The Putbacks deliver sharp, dynamic and funky rhythms with sentimental hints of Stax and classic Atlantic recordings the whole way through.

The first single 'Pink Skirt' pays homage to Emma's grandmother and her memories of singing church songs with her grandparents on the North Coast of New South Wales.

But overall, Crossover's heart sits with Emma's mother, forming a yearning heartfelt tribute to memories made, connection and ongoing spirit.

Crossover highlights the band’s shared love for classic American soul and the protest music of Indigenous Australia. Treat yourself to a copy of this record as soon as possible.

Crossover is out now via Hopestreet Recordings.
