Sat 31 May 2014 to Sun 1 Jun 2014

In this Australian premiere performance one of the most revered musicians of his generation, prodigious drummer Chris Dave brings his progressive genre-defying outfit The Drumhedz to the Festival for a limited series of intimate club gigs.

Chris Dave’s sublime musical fluency and groundbreaking approach to the kit has put him in a category of his own. Since cutting his teeth in the world of gospel music, he has gone on to collaborate with jazz legends (Sonny Rollins, Wynton Marsalis) pop mega-stars (Beyoncé, Adele) and neo-soul pioneers (D’Angelo, Maxwell, Robert Glasper).

Featuring a rotating lineup of musicians at the razor edge of next-generational jazz, The Drumhedz sound is an amalgamation of R&B, funk, rock, jazz, hip-hop and electronica, foregrounding Dave’s experimental song structures and revolutionary approach to rhythm.

Ready yourself for a hypnotic journey into their multi-layered, beat-laden groove.
