Hold tight!

Dub Club Melbourne was formed in September 07. Working closely with Heartical HiFi, our vision was to present to Melbourne an authentic international reggae and dub ‘soundsystem culture’ for the first time. It had taken a while to find a suitable venue to do this, until we found an underground basement bar in the city with no sound restrictions. We then began promoting our regular event appropriately named ‘Basement Sessions’. Resident sound and crew Heartical HiFi Outernational have since built up a strong following and earned a reputation as one of Australia’s most well known reggae and dub outfits. Their high powered sound system has been specifically custom built and has the ability to deliver the music like no other, with its own unique character and identity. Live ‘in session’ they present the music in fine style with operator and host Stryka D at the controls alongside a collective of selectors and entertainers, bubbling up the dance with live vocal and mic chat. Coming from the old school tradition of ‘soundsystem’ they are experts in their field, playing from 45rpm vinyl record collections and dubplate specials, all with the anticipation of a mighty bass line drop!

Basement Sessions 3rd Birthday goes down Saturday 2nd October at The Night Owl, Flinders court, near corner of Elizabeth Street & Flinders Lane. Door pressure $10.
