Known as one of the earlier pioneers of acid jazz in the early 90’s, Albert Dadon aka Albare has recently received International critical praise for his two recently released CDs.

After 7 years of absence from the stage Albare made a welcome return to his recording and touring career following his resignation as Artistic Director of the Melbourne International Jazz Festival in 2008.

His latest album Travel Diary, released in Australia in late 2010 by Select Records is being released in Canada and USA by Canadian American Records. Travel Diary is Albare’s fifth album.

Melbourne-based critic Martin Jackson remarked in his review of a live performance by Albare in May 2010, “While innate musicality and passion are clearly evident in Albare’s playing, especially his rhythmic strumming, his angular and often unpredictable runs reflected an update of the Reinhardt approach.”

Other critics such as Matthew Perkins from 702 ABC Sydney said after itnessing a performance of Albare in Sydney at the end of 2010, “Entering the Basement was more like sauntering down a European street, thanks to the hypnotic bohemian sound of Albare”.

Renowned critic, Robert Sutton in the United States wrote, “Most American smooth jazz is nearly narcoleptic in its structure and production, making it fair game as commercial radio and background music for young urban professionals. Albare avoids its sterile confines, balancing the yin and the yang of easy and uneasy listening.”

Early 2011, Albare was ranked number 1 on the professional music website ReverbNation under the Australian Jazz category.

Musicians of talent are accompanying Albare and contributing to the quality of the overall public performances with Joe Chindamo on the piano accordion, Rob Burke on saxophone, Evripides Evripidou on bass and Daniel Ferrugia on drum.

Albare is the founder and chairman of the Australian Jazz Bell Awards.
