In August PBS officially rolls out a revised program schedule. We’ll be losing a couple of favourites but bringing in some great new talent and some fresh content for PBS.

Monica Hanns has decided to step down from Against The Tide (Saturdays 10pm – 12am). This has been an outstanding program for PBS and we would like to acknowledge Monica’s significant contribution to the station and to the musical community she has supported with this program. Monica’s final program will be on Saturday July 28.

Stepping in to the Saturday 10pm slot will be Press Gang and her program Zen Arcade. Press Gang has a wealth of experience at PBS and we are delighted to be able to move this excellent program from its 2am slot into Saturday evenings!

Garry Seven has decided to take a break from weekly radio and will be finishing up his Friday night program Get On Up at the end of July. ‘Get On Up’ has been an integral part of PBS’s strong Friday night programming schedule and has helped PBS listeners ‘get on up’ as they head into the weekend. We are thrilled that Matt McFetridge (pictured above) will be stepping into this slot with his program Jungle Fever. Jungle Fever will be a mix of ‘primitive music for primitive people’ – everything from very early rhythm and blues and rockabilly to jungle exotica records and soul.

Garry’s final show will be on Friday July 27 at 7pm.

Some new programs join PBS in the insomnia slots next month. It’s great for PBS to be able to introduce new shows and volunteers into these fortnightly slots.

Contact with Adrian Meade: alternate Monday mornings 2am – 6am. Contact will focus on Kraut rock, noise, art rock and experimental music – both new and old. Adrian has done many fills on PBS, mostly in the electronic and experimental category.

Bangin’ Radio with Grace K: alternate Thursday mornings 2am – 6am. Bangin’ Radio is a hardcore, punk and alt/indie rock show with a strong focus on local content.

Zero Sum with Kate Reynolds: alternate Saturday mornings 2am – 6am. Zero Sum will focus on trip-hop, chilled electronic, dub, glitch and soundscape.

We wish Garry and Monica all the best; while warmly welcoming Matt, Adrian, Grace and Kate to the PBS stable; and Press Gang to her new on-air home!
