by Major Chord

In March of this year, a single arrived at PBS, in a clear plastic cover, it had one track on it and the label just said ‘Major Chord, Transition’. The track started softly, just guitar, and vocals, then climaxed into thundering drums and melodic vocals. Upon first listen it just drew you in, leaving you with a desire to hear more.

The Transition single was an excellent introductory and carrot for the album of the same name, which has just been released. Dan Flynn is the vocalist and multi-instrumentalist behind Major Chord, this new album being his fourth.

There are 3 other musicians working with Dan on the Transition album, which you could label as a kind of folk music – but in a more modern sense of the term.

He describes his song writing process as coming up with chords, then thinking of lyrics while driving or doing the dishes, then developing songs. Once he has about 10, he releases an album.

This album has a beautiful sound, it captivates you, its tracks are instantly likeable with their varying forms of instrumentation and lyrical content and Dan’s day-job as a social worker is evident through various songs on the CD.

Transition is 35 minutes of your life you will not regret giving up to listen to this album.
