by The Impossible No Goods

This new group featuring serial one-man-band genius/lunatics Anto Macaroni and BJ Morriszonkle has been very productive, releasing a split cassette tape and now this full length album within a month of their first gig. With a strange line-up of drums, fuzz bass and two squawking tenor saxophones, they play a kind of stomach-turning skronked out garage jazz. It sounds like the kind of thing you'd hear accompanying a cheapo super 8 exploitation film featuring lots of fake moustaches, gleaming switchblades and terrified half-naked startlets. That is to say, it's quite fantastic.

Although it's more polished than the direct-to-boombox recordings on the split tape, the sounds here are definitely on the pleasingly cruddy, distorted side of "mid-fi". Kudos to Pickle Henning for making something so putrid and evil sound so rich and tasty at the same time. The songs have names like "Stoned Or Just Dead" and "Fuck You and Your Boutique Dog", and the CD cover features several pictures of buttocks with faces drawn on them. I think by now you probably know whether you're going to like it or not...
