by First Aid Kit

Swedish sisters Johanna and Klara Soederberg, a.k.a First Aid Kit, may be in their early 20s but mature lyrics combined with the wide eyed optimism of youth make Stay Gold a truly excellent album that you simply can’t turn off. The inspiration for the title was taken from a Robert Frost's poem Nothing Gold Can Stay, and the album reflects this sentiment that the world is constantly changing, a concept that no doubt resonates with the sisters, given that they’ve been recording and touring since they were young teenagers. Despite the constant state of flux, we have to "keep on keeping on" as they proclaim in ‘My Silver Lining.’ It's as though they understand the intensity of the concept and masterfully use a combination of indie rock, folk stunning harmonies and even some 70s pop as the musical backdrop for some really gorgeous imagery. My favourite song on the album is Cedar Lane which has an almost cinematic quality about it, and other songs to listen out for are Stay Gold and Fleeing One. The third album for First Aid Kit, we are now totally justified in expecting great things form these young singer songwriters and we look forward to seeing them when they return to Australia in July
