Born in the Spring of 2014, the Rookies stormed out of the Rooks Return on the forgotten end of Brunswick St leaving behind them a trail of improvised beats, melded genres and idiosyncratic jazz.
This Melbourne-based quintet is made up of Greg Sher on alto sax, Tom Sly on trumpet, Joel Trigg on piano, Oscar Neyland on double bass and Chris Cameron on the drums.
They've played the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, held a two-year residency at the Jazz Lab, played every Wednesday at the Rooks Return for as long as anyone can remember, toured around Australia and curated a showcase at Strawberry Fields Festival 2018 and 2019.
With two LPs under their collective belts (The Rookies Play Jazz, 2018 and Stay Weird, 2019) these jazzed up fiends are ready to blow minds away during their Studio 5 Live performace on Eternal Rhythm.
