The 'Record Kicks; label was set up in 2003 by Nicolo Pozzoli. Based in Milan, the label specializes in a range of new and vintage black music. Whether it be funk, soul, afrobeat or dancefloor jazz, the label has distinguished itself in releasing some fine music from all over the world. 2013 sees it reach it's 10th birthday and it's celebrating by releasing a compilation looking back on the label's 10 year history. 'Record Kicks 10th' is a wonderful release, not only focusing on some of it's better known recordings but also several previously unreleased tracks too. Highlights include Hannah Williams & The Tastemakers take on the Barbara Lynn classic 'I'm A Good Woman', The Diplomats Of Solid Sound's funky 'Gimme One More Chance', The Link Quartet's eastern infulenced 'Spider Baby' and the previously unreleased 'Crisis Point' from Sydney's Afrobeat outfit 'The Liberators'. However, every track is a winner and well worth checking out!
