The new album from Los Angeles – based group ‘Houses’ is just beautiful. It possesses a surprising breadth of texture and instrumentation, and in particular, exquisite attention to detail in sound production.
‘A Quiet Darkness’ builds into soaring climaxes and then moves to minimalistic electro tinged ballads , constantly surprising as each new song begins. It is an unmistakably engaging album, bringing to mind acts like ‘Low’ and ‘The National’. There are a number of past releases from this band which I will now have to seek out!
