PBS 106.7FM aims to nurture, inspire and champion Melbourne's diverse music community. This year we launched an Access Training Program to increase participation from women and gender diverse people in music broadcasting and the wider music community.
The PBS Access Training program ran for the first time this year, and has two more courses available next year for women and gender diverse people, with room for eight participants in each course. Participants will be paired with a mentor from the PBS broadcast/music community and will receive support and guidance throughout the course from the mentors and the program facilitator. The training course will cover topics including: introduction to radio/writing for radio, radio presentation, interviewing, broadcast law, planning a program, technical skills, programming on PBS and using the studio. In addition to this, there will be specialist trainers undertaking specific classes throughout the course.
Following the eight week course, participants will gain access to a one hour program on PBS Digital Radio in which trainees will gain live radio experience as presenters, panel operators and producers.
The two course next year will run as follows:
Training Course #2) Monday nights 6:30-8:30pm - Feb 6, 13, 20, 27 March 6, 20, 27 April 3 (Please note no training on 13th March due to public holiday)
