Multicultural Arts Victoria and PBS are proud to present MULTI FUTURISM - the first in a series of events showcasing curated performances between artists and musicians representing Victoria’s multicultural soul, taking place at The Gasometer Hotel Friday 5th May 7.30pm-10.30pm.

Drawing on MAV’s annual Re-mastered Myths and Visible music programs with an aim to deconstruct stereo types of what audiences may consider “World Music”, Multi Futurism brings together artists from the contemporary and traditional, the mainstream and the underground, the cerebral and the improvisational for a night of unique and unexpected collaborations.

From Afro beat infused hip hop to cutting edge electronica with Indian Classical music to outspoken female rap crews to Samoan choirs and blues singers plus so much more. Multi Futurism is all about challenging an audience to perceive differing instrumentation, musical genres and cultural influences as one of Melbourne’s strongest bonds and creative well springs.

“World Music” is a parochial catch-all marketing term for non-Western music of all genres.
“Multi Futurism” is an inclusive term indicating a representation of music, culture, style and sounds from all over the world.
