Melbourne 10-piece funk outfit Mondo Freaks launch their debut, self-titled album Friday December 12 at Howler, Brunswick - proudly presented by PBS. Tickets are on sale now via Moshtix.

Joining them on the night are masters of vintage Afro-disco and psychedelic boogie, Wrong Way Up, plus Northside DJs turning the night well and truly into a party.

2025 has seen Mondo Freaks garner worldwide attention for their crisp, sophisticated take on funk through a steady stream of singles, including 'Bells Are Ringing', 'I’m a Fool', 'Won’t You Decide' and 'Turn This Love Around'.

Formed by the rhythm section of in-demand session bassist Luke Hodgson and drummer Graeme Pogson (GL, The Bamboos), the group brought together some of the finest musicians from Melbourne’s now-legendary soul scene — including five incredible vocalists: Jade MacRae, Susie Goble, Francisco Tavares, Aaron Mendoza and Jason Heerah.

Originally conceived as a concept band with an ever-evolving setlist of late ’70s and early ’80s funk classics, Mondo Freaks’ journey has seen them invited to back such luminaries as Leroy Burgess and the iconic Evelyn "Champagne" King on their Australian tours.

Having performed at Meredith Music Festival, Golden Plains, and Panama Festival, as well as numerous residencies, Mondo Freaks have well and truly carved their mark — now returning to ring in a new era of groove-soaked original music.

Mondo Freaks album launch tickets on sale now.
