Fri 4 Sep 2015

Lennard Promotions and PBS proudly presents multiple Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter on her 2015 Acoustic World Tour, with very special guest, Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Tift Merritt.

Five-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and 2012 Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee Mary Chapin Carpenter will return to Australia for the first time in over 10 years for on a unique series of intimate, acoustic performances as part of her 2015 Acoustic World Tour. The tour marks Carpenter’s return to singing both timeless hits and deep cuts from her expansive and beloved 13-album catalog after performing with orchestras in early 2014. Carpenter will be joined on stage by longtime friends Jon Carroll (piano) and Austin Nevins (guitars) with very special guest support from Tift Merritt.

Over the course of her career, Carpenter has sold over 13 million records. With hits like “Passionate Kisses” and “He Thinks He’ll Keep Her,” she has won five Grammy Awards (with 15 nominations), two CMA awards and two Academy of Country Music awards for her vocals. Her songs speak to the most personal of life’s details and the most universal.

As a treat for Australian fans Mary Chapin Carpenter will be joined at all shows by very special guest, Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Tift Merritt. The New Yorker has called Merritt “the bearer of a proud tradition of distaff country soul that reaches back to artists like Dusty Springfield and Bobbie Gentry,” a standard upholding that got underway in earnest with Bramble Rose, the 2002 solo debut that put her on the Americana map forever. Since then and across four subsequent albums including 2012’s Traveling Alone Tift Merritt continues to assert the fact that her musical star continues to rise.
