Sun 8 Mar 2015

Sunday is International Women’s Day and PBS would like to acknowledge the music and art that has been made by female artists through history. We kick off IWD during Magic Carpet Ride when Rockin’ Ron Dickinson will welcome Kim W back to PBS for the first time since she wound up her iconic PBS show City Slang in 2013. From 9am we’ll hear a unique Gospel Show as Jane Hendry of The Tiger & Me takes over from Peter Miles for a different type of gospel.

At the other end of the day both Michele Nicholle and Chelsea Allen will drop in for a chat on Impressions, Across the Tracks will feature some of the best recent albums by female artists, composer, musician and ensemble-leader Gemma Turvey spends time In the Quiet and then finally Evan Carr will program a two-hour celebration of women working in electronic, experimental and instrumental music on The Art of Bleep.

And in case you missed it, check out Peter Bramley's all female-fronted bands and female solo artists special edition of Club It To Death!

If that’s not enough Grace K will be back to present some Bangin' Radio to take you through the Lonely Stretch to Monday morning. International Women’s Day, Sunday March 8…tune in and celebrate on PBS.
