by Autopsy

Ever since reuniting in 2008 the death metal community has been buzzing about Autopsy’s return. And Now with a second new album ‘The Headless Ritual’ its seems to be a permanent! Whilst still having some doomy tinges that were present in 2011’s Macabre Eternal, there is a distinct heavier and thrashier edge to this album as a whole, closer to their late 80’s work, plus a nod to some pre-death metal sounds mixed in as well. The stand out tracks for me are ‘When hammer meets bone’ Its thrash death start into some doomier breaks is very solid and the opening track ‘Slaughter at the beast house’ is a welcome return to eighties autopsy putting the hairs up on the back of your neck from the very start. The cover art is a definite homage to late eighties metal 'only for the sick at heart' gore! From a band that has created in the past some of the greatest ever death metal albums this to me says we are here to say and for the next 45 minutes we are going to rip your head off!
