by FOUR HOURS SLEEP

The word supergroup is used a lot but in the case of Four Hours Sleep, it is more than justified! When you've got the likes of Stephen Cummings, Angie Hart and Pete and Dan Luscombe centered around former Frente bassist Bill McDonald, it is quite the lineup. The group has been around for a long time, although this is only their third album with their last album being eight years ago and their first 10 years before that! Considering the other bands that they are in, we'll cut them a little slack but we're glad they're back as this album is really quite beautiful. There's a real mood about it, no doubt helped by the wonderful bass sound that's really at the forefront of the entire record. Think I'm Ready really helps set this mood from the beginning before leading to the gospel-inspired Sing (For Better Times) which features the legendary Vika and Linda Bull on vocals. A few other guests appear including Lilith Lane on Green Arrow and trumpet player Peter Knight on the instrumental tune A Multitude Of Sins before the album finishes on the driving Wriggle On. All in all, a really great trip and one of the albums of the year thus far!
