by Nuru Kane

Born and bred in the Senegalese capital Dakar, a city renowned for its rich and vibrant music scene, Nuru Kane is an amazing artist with an incredibly unique perspective and approach. On his third album Exile he continues to explore the connections between the music of North Africa and West Africa. It’s an approach that proved successful with his previous album Sigil. It’s therefore not surprising that he has stuck to it. The trade-off is that the new album doesn’t quite have the same level of surprise and freshness. However, it’s a still a gorgeous album with a great fusion of Gnawa sound, blues, reggae, m’balax and more!
