by Darling Downs

Acclaimed Australian musicians Ron S Peno and Kim Salmon reunite as The Darling Downs to release their third album, In the Days When the World Was Wide. Named after a collection of Henry Lawson’s poetry, the album harks back to a simpler time evoked with rich, romantic imagery. The record features contributions from Julitha Ryan and Mike Stranges and an array of instruments including banjo, piano, guitars and bass that recreate The Darling Downs’ characteristic sonic mix of country, folk and bluegrass. Longing, redemption and lament are strong lyrical themes, conveyed flawlessly through Peno’s high, lonesome vocals and Salmon’s expressive playing. The songs are uncomplicated, honest and stirring and will stay with you long after the record has finished playing.
